Start fresh with your insurance management system
October 08, 2015
My career in technology started almost twenty years ago – in the mid-90s as a (co-op) software engineer for a large telecommunications company. For you tech geeks out there, I was rocking a 486 DX2 (66 MHz) as my main development machine at home, with a huge 500 MB hard drive and an internal 28.8 kbps modem as my only connection to the outside world. In case that was all Greek to you – let’s just say that the smartphone you have right now is over a thousand times* more powerful than my development machine was back then.
It’s amazing how much has changed in twenty years, isn’t it? I think that’s why it’s so surprising when we find industries that are still running their businesses on decade-old technologies. I’ll agree that there is some merit to the old adage of, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. However, if we were to always follow that line of reasoning, we’d still be doing math on our calculator watches, wouldn’t we?
That’s why we decided to start fresh with Brokercore. Accessing your files from anywhere? That’s old news. But what about having a system that can read the information your client entered on an application form – without you having to type anything? We think that’s cool. Or what about having a system that pulls up your client’s file *before* you ask for it? We think that’s awesome.

*A 486 DX2 66 had a computational power of approximately 0.07 GFLOPS. An iPhone 5 produces approximately 76.8 GFLOPS, or roughly 1100 times more.
